Uplifting the power of the largest SEAA community in the US

As I reflect on all that we’ve accomplished on SEARAC’s California team this year, I am struck by the ways that we have engaged with, supported, and uplifted the largest Southeast Asian American (SEAA) population in the United States. Each season of 2023 seemed to bring a different milestone: releasing groundbreaking mental health research, collaborating with community members to create an inclusive K-12 ethnic studies curriculum, or making connections with new community members. We are growing our power all across the state of California to make lasting, positive change for Southeast Asian Americans.

As of this morning, we have raised almost $8,000 during SEARAC’s Week of Giving – but we still have $22,000 to go to reach our goal. Can you join me in making a donation to support our work in California and beyond?

I was especially excited for the California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN)’s first-ever, in-person, statewide “Right to Heal” event celebrating diverse communities’ mental health care and access. After three years of virtual programming, it was so great to see our partners and community members in Sacramento. Our SEAA community has a rich history in the state and an incredible depth of shared knowledge about the solutions that will improve their lives. I am humbled to be a part of this work.

This time of year is an opportunity to embrace change and anticipate a new year. I always use this opportunity to ground myself in the feelings of safety, wholeness, and love. I wish the same for Southeast Asian American communities everywhere, and I am honored to be a part of an organization that is building that vision alongside our partners. Join us in connecting with, uplifting, and getting involved with this powerful network of SEAA communities in California and across the nation.

Sincerely,

Thuy Do, SEARAC California Program Manager
